Application Terms
These terms apply to requests for direct assistance through MapleWish. They supplement the general Terms of Use and the Applicant Privacy Notice.
1. Who may apply
You must have reached the age of majority in your province or territory, live in Canada, and apply for yourself or a household member for whom you are authorized to act. A parent or legal guardian may apply concerning a child.
2. No fee to apply
MapleWish does not charge applicants a fee to submit an assistance request. Do not pay anyone who claims they can guarantee selection or move your application ahead in exchange for money.
3. Accurate information
You agree to provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and not intentionally misleading. If circumstances change materially, please update MapleWish where practical.
4. Verification
MapleWish may ask for reasonable information needed to verify identity, residency, the requested expense, or the ability to deliver assistance. Verification will be tailored to the request. Refusing a reasonably necessary verification request may prevent MapleWish from approving the application.
5. Selection is not guaranteed
Applying does not guarantee assistance. MapleWish may consider program fit, available funds, urgency, verification, safety, previous assistance, operational capacity and other reasonable factors. MapleWish may pause or close applications when resources are limited.
6. How approved assistance may be delivered
Depending on the request, assistance may be delivered to you, to a landlord, vendor, utility, service provider, merchant or another appropriate payee. MapleWish may choose a delivery method that reduces fraud risk and documents the outcome.
7. Publicity is separate
Your application is private by default. Being selected for help does not by itself give MapleWish permission to publish your story or photo. Public material is handled through a separate Story & Photo Publication Consent process.
8. Applicant conduct
Threats, harassment, fraud, impersonation, fabricated documents, repeated abusive submissions or attempts to compromise MapleWish systems may result in an application being closed or an account being restricted.
9. Withdrawal
You may ask to withdraw an application before assistance is delivered. Withdrawal does not necessarily require MapleWish to erase records that must be retained for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, security or dispute purposes.
10. No professional advice
MapleWish provides direct-help funding and related program support. MapleWish is not a substitute for legal, medical, financial, housing, crisis or other professional services.
11. Changes
If MapleWish materially changes these Application Terms, applicants will be shown the updated version before a new acceptance is required where appropriate.
12. Contact
Contact MapleWish for application support or privacy requests.
