FOR PEOPLE APPLYING FOR HELP

Applicant Privacy Notice

Effective September 19, 2026 applicant-privacy-2026-09-19

Your application is private by default. MapleWish uses it to review and administer requests for help. Applying does not authorize us to publish your name, story or photo.

1. What the team can see

Authorized MapleWish team members may review the information you submit, including your contact details, requested amount, category of need, private story, optional photo, public-sharing preferences, status history and internal review notes.

2. Why we collect it

We use applicant information to understand your request, communicate with you, assess program fit, verify information where reasonably necessary, prevent fraud or misuse, decide whether MapleWish can offer assistance, deliver approved assistance, and document program decisions.

3. What you do not need to provide at first

Please do not upload government identification, banking passwords, full payment-card numbers, medical charts or diagnostic records unless MapleWish later explains why a specific item is reasonably required for verification. We try to collect the minimum information necessary.

4. Photos

A photo is optional. Uploaded applicant photos are stored privately and are not placed on the public site automatically. Uploading a photo is not permission to publish it.

5. If you are selected

We may ask for additional verification appropriate to the request. We may also work with you on a shorter public story. Before anything is made public, MapleWish will show you the material intended for publication and seek separate approval under the Story & Photo Publication Consent process.

6. Operational contact versus marketing

MapleWish may contact you about account security, verification, your application, requested information, selection, payment or assistance delivery. These operational messages are separate from marketing. Promotional email requires its own consent where required by law.

7. Retention

Drafts may be removed after extended inactivity. Closed or declined applications are generally deleted or de-identified after the retention period described in the Privacy Policy, unless a longer period is reasonably needed for legal, fraud-prevention, accounting or dispute purposes.

8. Access, correction and withdrawal

You can return to your account to update an editable application. You may also ask MapleWish to correct information, withdraw an application, or make a privacy request. Some records may need to be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary for completed transactions, disputes, security or accounting.
